Makenna's Birthday Party

This picture really reminds me of this picture from two years ago- oh how time flies.

On Saturday, we had Makenna's friends over for a birthday party. At the end of the party I did not feel exhausted, or stressed, or anxious, or frazzled so I am wondering if it wasn't quite enough of a party. I tried to go easy on myself so we only had four friends (which turned into six when a couple of siblings joined the party) and I only had everyone for one hour. We had a treasure hunt with games at every clue, which mostly did not work out, and then cake and presents. It was definitely on the minimal side but Makenna seemed pleased. She especially loved it when everyone sang happy birthday to her. At the end of the song, after she blew out the candles, she told everyone to sing to her again and they gladly did. It was pretty funny. We sure love that girl!

What a lucky girl! She looks so cute. I think simple parties are the best! :) And I'm glad that the boys got to go camping. Brandon just loves it when he gets to go with Justin! I hope they didn't come home with any chigger bites. Those aren't much fun.

Looks like a fun party. That cake is AWESOME! Wow. I am so impressed.
PS: I love the little girl in the background "helping" Makenna blow out the candles. So cute!

Wow, Melissa, the cake looks awesome! Of course that's what I notice first! I have to make Sophie's here in a couple weeks and I'm not totally sure what I'm doing yet. It won't ever be as cute as yours, but I'm already resigned to that. :D Wish me luck!

One hour is perfect. My kids would think that party was more than amazing. I've set the standard pretty low around here and we've only really had 2 birthday parties EVER. A little embarrassing but planning parties is one of the most overwhelming things to me for some reason. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your cake!!!! What a great talent you've developed.
