Swinging in the Sunshine

On Tuesday we went to the park and enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day. Brielle even got to go for a swing and she loved it!

Yoasis

Lately Kevin has been spending a lot of time at this hip new yogurt joint, called Yoasis. He was heavily involved in helping Hogi Yogi launch this new place, and we having been enjoying an abundance of this new delicious tart frozen yogurt. These pictures are from the VIP night when it first opened. Way to go Kev--- you are a Super Star!

Happy Easter

We kicked off our easter weekend with of course egg decorating followed by our annual Easter Egg Roll. This year I am happy to report that I (Melissa) was the winner (and dont let Kevin try to tell you otherwise).

Sunday morning we had our Easter Egg Hunt. The kids loved finding their baskets and eggs. For easter we (or "the easter bunny") got them a new movie- which of course is more a gift to us parents than our kids. They were quite excited- especially about the candy.

I found matching easter clothes for the kids which I was quite excited about. I think they look so so cute!

Brayden keeps us on our toes...

So, I do think it is absolutely fabulous that Brayden is learning to read and write. Really, it's an amazing thing to watch. However, he doesnt always use this new skill of his for good.
Exhibit A
Let me explain... Brayden gets books every night in a folder that he has to read with us, and when we initial his folder then he gets to move on to new books and a higher "level." While he does love to accomplish the whole new level thing and keep up with his friends, he doesn't really like to actually read the books (esspecially since we insist he read them mulitiple times to really learn it- I know we are mean parents). Well last week we read the books and I said I would sign them off in the morning after we read them again. Brayden had another idea. The next morning he signed my initials himself and put his folder away in his bag- hoping of course I wouldn't get it out. Well I did... and while I was appalled at the dishonesty of it- I did think it was pretty clever for someone who is only in kindergarten (and really I think it was pretty innocent-- I like to think he didn't really know it was wrong). I took the picture after I had added my true initials to his forgery so you don't get the full effect but you do get to see that he is getting pretty good with a pen :)

And just so you see that Brayden also uses his writing skills for good- Here is a picture of what he called posters. These "posters" were in EVERY room of the house and Brayden explained to me that they were to tell us about an upcoming puppet show he was putting on for which we needed to be in our seats on the couch at 6:00 at night (hence the small moon shape in the corner) for the show which would start at 6:31.

Fun with Fondant

Last night I made a cake for my cake class but we ran out of time to decorate it so I did it this morning. Brayden joined in and seemed to enjoy using fondant to express his creativity- he was even adventurous enough to taste it (and of course feed it to Makenna).
Train them young, right?

Brayden's masterpiece (it's an airplane)

My masterpiece (it's a present cake)

Soldier Hollow

Last Friday we went tubing at Soldier Hollow with the MBAers. We went last year as well. It was a lot of fun. Brayden loved it- even when he fell out of his tube on the last run and spent some time doing the skeleton thing (you know head first speeding down the hill)- he still came out smiling. Makenna needed a bit of "convincing" to enjoy it. She got to the top and firmly declared "I am not going down" Kevin just picked her up, put her in the tub and gave her a push. Luckily, she was smiling at the end and ready to go again. As for Brielle- she was mostly a little angel- sleeping amidst the snow at the bottom of the hill. (Dont worry she was bundled up and supervised at all times).
