Kevins Marathon

Back in May, I threw out the idea of Kevin running the St George Marathon with my dad.  To my suprise he was totally interested and signed himself up.  He began the vigorous preparation and rigorous training required to prepare oneself for such an undertaking.  It was not easy but he stuck with it even through the misery of doing his longest runs in the hottest part of our Texas summer.

And then the day for preparation passed and the big day arrived.  We flew in to Vegas a couple of days before and spent a night at a fun resort there.  The kids enjoyed the pool and activities there and visiting the on site Dennys.  It was a good time.

Then we were off to St George.  We stayed at my aunt Shellys house but Grandma and Grandpa got a hotel.  We spent some time swimming there as well and showing Grandparents our favorite Studio C sketches.
The day before the race there was a convention with all sorts of booths for runners.  Kevin visited one where he got not only his leg taped up but also his leg half way shaved ;)  Brielle was the lucky girl there too who had the winning raffle ticket so daddy got himself a new pair of shoes FOR FREE!

And then the big day.  The racers were off at 4ish in the morning and we met them at the finish line a few hours after that.  They both did terrifically.  Kevins time was just under 4:15 so he did really well and we were all happy with that.  Grandpa did excellent as well.  They were supermen!

Afterwards, dad snagged the kids some popsicles and we got our injured runner into a nice ice bath.

The next day we recovered from the run, watched conference, visited the Brigham Young house, and walked around St George a bit.  It was a good time!
The trip was a good time and a great success for our runners!
