Jasons 40th Birthday Cruise

Julie surprised Jason with a cruise for his 40th birthday and Kevin and I were more than happy to join in.  We cruised out of Galveston and visited Cozumel and Progresso Mexico.  It was a bit chilly in Galveston, but we were soon off to warmer waters...
On the ship we enjoyed lounging about- esspecially when we were able to secure these "nests" at the front of the ship.  That was our favorite spot.  We played a lot of phase 10 on this trip.

The entertainment was sometimes lacking but we did enjoy a lot of live music that was pretty good.  We also enjoyed a lot of food that was pretty good too.  Particularly the tacos.
In the above picture we have our glasses and trophies that we won in our group trivia challenge- that was a highlight.

Our first stop was Progresso where we rode these cool dune buggys to some salt flats.  It was pretty interesting how they get the salt and pretty funny to listen to our tour guide warn us of the dangers of touching the salt water and then wading in himself.  ;)  We tasted the salt too- it was salterrific!
After the flats we went to a beach area with a pool and had a swim in the ocean.  The boys played some volleyball and we enjoyed some nice warm sun.
Then on to Cozumel where we took a taxi to Paradise Beach.  It lived up to its name.  Beautiful beach and a lot of fun things to do.  We all enjoyed climbing on to (and falling off of) the giant inflatables.  The standing paddle boards were a lot of fun too and we enjoyed the pool for a bit and got some nachos for snacking.  It was a beautiful day!  After each stop we bought ourselves a mexican Coke.  I'm not a Coke drinker but that was pretty darn tasty!

And before we knew it our trip had come to an end.  It was so fun to spend time with the Grigors and eat and play and relax.  It was a great trip.  Thanks to Oma, we had our kids well taken care of at home and Thanks to Jason for turning 40 so we had a reason to celebrate!
