Anyways, I did all our Christmas shopping with two trips to Walmart on the two Saturdays before Christmas. This procrastination caused a fair bit of stress as Kevin and I struggled to determine if we had bought the right gifts and especially the right amount of gifts for our kids. This is really a tough thing for a parent to figure out. On the one hand you want them to feel that excitement of Christmas when they awake to find they got everything they asked for and more and then on the other hand you don't want to raise kids who expect to get whatever they want and you don't want to have to top yourself every year and you certainly don't want Christmas to be all about the gifts- right? So anyways, simply because of a lack of time- we had a "simpler" Christmas which in the end was just perfect.
So Christmas Eve, I made a turkey dinner. It turned out to be quite good. I have definitely become a lot more confident and competent in the making turkey dinner department. Its a lot of work but I do enjoy the finished product. While I cooked Kevin took the kids to Burger King to get out some of their Christmas energy. We had the Thomas' join us for dinner and then the kids acted out the nativity- 4 seperate times we acted it out so that each girl could be Mary. It was really cute and different every time- sometimes there was a sheep, sometimes a donkey, sometimes a cow. Then we opened our Christmas jammies from Grandma and tucked the kiddos into bed. Heres a few nativity shots:Then on to Christmas morning...
Emmitt was the first to awake which meant Kevin and I were actually waiting for the kids to wake up instead of the other way around. We didn't have to wait long... before we knew it they were all in our bed.... so cute and so excited!
Brielle's gifts were a mermaid, a play doh set and a princess tent.Makennas big item was Go Go my walkin pup.
And Brayden got an electric scooter... which clearly he was excited about!
And here they are with their stockings...
I just thought these hats were super cute so I, I mean, Santa had to get them.
Christmas day was really wonderful. I love staying home playing with happy kids and their new toys. It was fun and relaxing. We went to the Thomas' for dinner and some Wii. Everyone was happy so it was a perfect day!
