Emmitt made me eggs

This year on my birthday Emmitt surprised me by making me eggs.  This doesn't sound like a big deal but it was to me.  I know he hates everything about eggs and has no idea how to cook.  So when he looked it up on YouTube and figured it out all without anyone telling him to... lets just say I was very touched.  Thanks Emmitt.

Birthday Boy!

4th of July/ Kevins birthday.  The highlight was calling Brayden and opening up the birthday package he had sent.  He got a sweet African shirt and some Ginger candies.  Bray also send some couch decor for me.

We surprised Kevin with birthday donuts and then we had friends over for a swim party and bbq and traditional birthday cake.  Always a fun day!

Off to College She Goes..

I made the trip to take Makenna to college with Brielle and Emmitt in tow to have an epic and historic trip to Utah.  We had all the stuff and all the snacks and all the tunes and off we went.  It was a fun time. I let Makenna drive a good portion of it which went great until it didn't.

I dont know but I found this hilarious-- just looked to me like the dog was driving ;)

Hotel shenanigans

We used Makennas new projector to watch Gilmore Girls in the hotel. And the girls went out and got pizza for it so it was a party.

Makenna got her very first experience being pulled over by the police.  It was day 2 and we were driving through the long and terrible stretch of New Mexico where its a two lane highway and you can get stuck behind a really slow truck for a long long time and it can be incredibly frustrating.  So we had found ourselves in that situation where we had been stuck behind a slow truck for a really long time... so when we had the chance- she gunned it- and I encouraged it- and she may have gotten a tad over zealous because at the point she reached 90mph in a 60mph zone she passed a cop going the other direction.  I knew the second I saw him that we were doomed.  He flipped around and pulled her over and it was pretty traumatic for her but he ended up being incredibly nice and forgiving.  He explained that if he were to give her a ticket he'd have to take away her license because of how much she was speeding and she still has a provisional license because of her age.  So we lucked out big time and just got a warning.  Fewf!  So after that I drove the rest of the way ;)

Shortly after our unexpected traffic stop we came to my favorite trip stop- Wilsons Arch- where we did a quick climb and enjoyed the view.

And once we arrived in Utah, we picked up Grandma who was my support and our trip buddy.  It was so fun to spend this time with her.

Just picked up her keys

Bookstore shopping!

Hiking the Y (Makenna was already busy with her new friends)

Ginger came to hang out with us on Sunday.  We went to church with her and then played some games at the hotel.  Its always fun to reconnect.
Brielle and Emmitt spent a day with their friends Addie and Cooper Peterson.

Here we are at my personal favorite Utah food place- Zupas.  Joined by Scott ;)

This was meeting up with Makenna just before we headed off to go back home.  Its so cool to see your kids walking around the campus you attended... so nostalgic.

And to try to make the way home a bit more fun and to try to not to wallow too much in our sadness of leaving Makenna behind, we stopped at a hotel in Moab and went ziplining.  It was a lot of fun and helped to break up the drive a bit more.

YM Camp Adventure... sort of...

The YM in our ward had been gearing up all year long to go on an epic backpacking adventure hike and camp this year.  Unfortunately, much like last year, mother nature had other plans.  The poor boys ended up getting rained out after just one day.  Its stormed and poured rain and they awoke in swimming pools in their tents.  It became unsafe to hike so they had to figure themselves a way out and coincidentally ended up at the same pizza place as the YW as we were headed home from our camp.  It was super fun to meet up with them.  Many of them were extremely disappointed (mostly leaders) but Emmitt was pretty thrilled because he said the first day hiking was rough and it was pretty miserable to think of waking up and repeating that the next day.

These are the only two pics of the YM's that I have... when they were on their way to camp...

Girls Camp... Oh the places you'll go!

This year I was so grateful to be asked to be the girls camp cook.  I got to chose an assistant and of course I chose my lovely daughter Makenna who was just a bit too old to go to camp as a YW but the perfect age to go as a cook.  So basically I got to go enjoy all the fun of girls camp with my two precious daughters and all I had to do was the food. I loved it!

The theme was Dr Seuss' "All the Places you'll go" so we started off by visiting Paris, Texas, and stopped off in Broken Bow for a maze and the famous Gasquatch gas station before arriving at our final destination - the cabin.  Here are some photo highlights:
